The Carolina Inn
A Chapel Hill Classic Since 1924
The Carolina Inn opened in 1924 on the edge of the UNC campus and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's a full-service hotel, so you and your guests can stay, get ready, celebrate and sleep under one roof. Ceremonies and cocktail hours often happen in Bryan Courtyard (up to about 150 guests) or the Anne Hill Courtyard with its signature magnolia. Receptions move inside to the Hill Ballroom, reached through the iconic black-and-white checkered hallway, or to the Chancellors Ballroom and the Old Well Ballroom.
Why We Love DJing at The Carolina Inn
We've DJ'd at The Carolina Inn, and it's one of the most elegant receptions in the Triangle. Here's how we set up:
Courtyard ceremony sound: Clean, discreet wireless sound so the brick and greenery stay the focus.
Cocktail hour: Music for the courtyard or the lobby areas while you take portraits around campus.
A ballroom reception: We build the night from classy dinner sets to a full dance party, and your DJ handles every announcement as MC.
A setup that fits the room: Our custom wooden DJ booths look at home in a historic ballroom.
Planning Tips for The Carolina Inn
Leave time for campus photos: The Old Well is about a 15-minute walk away. Photographers recommend budgeting around an hour for the trip.
Plan a wedding weekend: With guest rooms on site, a welcome party or after party is easy. We can DJ those too.
Add a photo booth: A photo booth gives ballroom guests something to do between dance sets. Our sister brand Hotshot can be added to any Discoboxx package.
Getting married at The Carolina Inn? Check your date and see pricing. Discoboxx wedding packages include ceremony and cocktail hour sound and your DJ as MC, with no travel fee in Chapel Hill.
